چکیده

The parameters of protein metabolism, such as the levels of total, soluble proteins and free amino acids and also the activity levels of protease, glutamate dehydrogenase, aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase were assayed in the silk gland of the fifth instar larva of silkworm, Bombyx mori, under the impact of ultrasound. In general ultrasound has an elevatory effect on these parameters. Changes in the levels of these biochemical constituents are correlated with the events of histogenesis and histolysis associated with the silkworm metamorphosis. Under the influence of ultrasound protein metabolism is stimulated to achieve greater turnover of silk proteins, greater spinning activity and consequently greater sericultural output.

The silk proteins, sericin and fibroin in silkworm, Bombyx mori Linn., - a review

The domesticated silkworm, Bombyx mori Linn., a lepidopteran molecular model and an important economic insect that are emerging as an ideal molecular genetic resource for solving a broad range of biological problems. The silkworm, B. mori produces massive amount of silk proteins during the final stage of larval development. These proteins are stored in the middle silk gland and they are dischar...

Alteration in the primary metabolites in three different tissues of silkworm, Bombyx mori L. under the influence of a Juvenoid, R394

A bivoltine silkworm hybrid, KA x NB4D2 was treated with the juvenoid R394 (Ethyl-9 cyclohexyl-3,7-dimethyl-2,4-nonadienoate) at a dose of 0.039 nl/larva at 24, 48, 72 and 96 h of 5th instar for silk yield improvement. Treatment specific significant increase was observed in the cocoon and shell weight with no such marked variation in the shell percentage. Notable changes were also seen in tr...

The present study deals with the oral supplementation with (50, 100 and 150 ?g/ml) synergetic effect of potassium and magnesium chloride on the fat body glycogen, protein, total lipids and haemolymph trehalose, protein of fifth instar larvae of Bombyx mori L (Lepidoptera: Bombycidae). The observed parameters significantly increased in all the treated groups when compared with those of the corre...
